McKenna Brynn, MA, LPCC

She/They | Pre-Licensed Therapist

I see therapy as a doorway into deeper relationship with yourself, and into a more meaningful, more free life. I approach the work with curiosity, warmth, and the belief that you make sense in the context of your lived experience. My role is not to fix you, but to help you face what hurts without facing it alone.

Sometimes the hardest part isn’t the pain itself, but carrying it in isolation. Shame, grief, body distrust, and trauma can create a profound sense of disconnection from yourself, from others, and from the kind of life you want to live. Therapy is a space where you can share the weight of what you’ve been carrying, reconnect with parts of yourself that may have gone quiet, and move toward a life that feels more like your own.

You don’t have to carry the weight of your story alone.

Making sense of the world through art, music, epic stories, and outdoor adventures.

Outside the therapy room, you might find me at a post-hardcore show, wandering a mountain trail with my dogs and spouse, splattering paint on a canvas (and on the floor), or rereading a favorite poetry collection. I am also unapologetically nerdy - I have replayed the Mass Effect trilogy more times than I can reasonably defend, know far too many fun facts about my favorite bands, and can spend an inordinate amount of time talking about The Lord of the Rings. Stories, music, and art have always helped me make sense of the world and my place in it, and they remain essential parts of my self-care.

We'd be a good fit if...

  • You want to unpack what’s happening beyond the tip of the iceberg, not just manage symptoms.
  • You’re carrying shame, grief, and trauma and are looking for a space to explore them honestly.
  • You feel disconnected from your body, yourself, and others and want to rebuild those relationships.
  • You don’t want someone to have all the answers, you want a steady companion in the process of finding your own.
  • You benefit from an approach that is equal parts warm and direct (and also might include a healthy dose of laughter, f-bombs, and tears).

Why This Work Matters To Me

My path to becoming a therapist was shaped by my own experiences on the other side of the couch. I have experienced psychotherapy as both deeply healing and profoundly disappointing, and those experiences continue to inform how I show up with clients today. Being a client has taught me how powerful it can be to feel genuinely understood, and how much harm can occur when people are reduced to diagnoses, symptoms, or problems to solve. I am especially passionate about providing affirming, thoughtful care for folks whose identities, bodies, or experiences have been historically policed and marginalized. Accompanying others through suffering, growth, grief, and change has been and remains one of the greatest privileges of my life.
